About Me
I am half Jewish on my father’s side, and according to family tradition, I am a Levite–the tribe responsible for temple ministry. On my mothers side, I have the honor of being a descendant of the Mayflower and Plymouth colony, Miles Standish, and am honored to be the 9th cousin of General of the Army Douglas MacArthur. There’s plenty of distinguished people in both sides of my family. Does this give me bragging rights? No. The only thing I can really boast about is my love for God, and the fact that I have the honor of being a Son of God, and of Abraham directly. I can also boast about having Christ in my life, though sometimes he does seem to be far away. He’s quite real. He’s like a best friend. You don’t have to talk to him or touch him in order for him to be there with you.
I will admit I am afflicted with a brain disease called SchizoAffective Disorder, which in my case is a combination of the elements of Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Because of this disability, my ability to live as other people see as normal is permanently compromised. But thanks be to God, I have an income since I had the privilege of serving in the U.S. Armed Forces for fifteen months and have been classified as Service Connected Disability according to the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs. My medical care is through the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. I am under some major medical supervision, since I have been prone to certain unacceptable behaviors in the past. If it’s something you need to know, I’ll write about it further at a later time.
I am at this time a bachelor to the rapture. I’ve thought often about being married, and the rights, responsibilities, and privileges that entails. I’ve been told various things, like it will happen if it happens, if God wills it, and that it will happen. I’m not always happy that I’m single, but I need to be content with what I have for now, and that’s what I’m trying to do. It’s not always easy, since I don’t have the sexual purity that a lot of ChristFollowers have. I’m have dealt with those issues with the aid of Pure Desire, and that’s a ministry of Eagle Brook Church. My current position is as a Medical Support Assistant at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
I also am privileged to have graduated from the Bethel University College of Arts and Sciences in 1989, while it was still known just as Bethel College. The “Bethel Rebel” scheme is from my resistance to some of the legalism that had been going around in a lot of places in that sphere of time. Bethel, however, is very much showing well the grace that God has given His people.
I also hold a degree as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal. My hobbies are digital SLR photography, archery, and politics.
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my writings. May God bless you all richly.
It’s nice to get to know you a little more Johnny, you are an interesting person and a really cool guy! I’m glad I know you. God bless.
